Cowboy dresser

This dresser was more in the style of mid century modern. This was actually a re-do. I just can't get into the look of mcm. There was layers and layers of color on here and that is how it ended up so great after all! When sanding all the layers of colors, it just turned out amazing. All the different colors of browns, grays and whites are popping through differently. I just love how this turned out! I did quite a bit of distressing on this one as it just felt right to keep sanding :) I thought it looked kind "cowboyish" so that's what I was going for. I added the pewter western pulls. Distressing with a sander can produce amazing results when you do that over layers and layers of paint. The colors on here were dark brown, dark gray and white. This was sealed with Artisan Enhancements clear finish. Give this technique a try sometime!

So that is the trick to getting this distressed looks. It is layering your colors. You are going to want to use several coats of paint in neutral colors like browns and grays and cream. And then the distressing happens with an electric sander.

I have lots of how to videos on my YouTube channel about furniture painting/sanding/waxing etc.

More photo's of my work are in the Gallery.
