Cream Coffee Table, Aged, Distressed

This coffee table was your typical red mahogany type of wood. I loved it though because of all the carvings and curves. These make the best furniture pieces to work on because those areas are great for distressing.

I first cleaned this and then gave it a quick light sanding. Then it got shellac, 2 coats.

Then I painted 2 coats of Old Ochre.

I sanded in between the coats to get smoothness.

The last sanding I sanded extra in all the areas that I wanted distressed.

Then it was all sealed with wax. One coat of clear wax, and then one coat of dark wax. When you wax a large surface with any of the dark waxes (dark wax, black wax) you want to make sure you are going in long, even strokes. Work in a long section, wipe off excess, keep going in sections.

I have lots of how to videos on my YouTube channel.

Make sure you let your furniture pieces cure before using them. Same with cabinets.
