Roses in Gold

For this dresser I used the rose stencil from Cutting Edge Stencils. They have lots of options for stencils to choose from. Another company I use for stencils is Royal Design.

It is really easy to use stencils and it adds fun character to a piece instead of having just a regular chalk painted furniture. I tape down the stencil in place with blue tape and roll on the paint with a small sponge roller. You can buy these little rollers at Michaels. Then I blow dry the area so I can reposition and keep stenciling. You don't want to put your stencil down again while the first area is wet so that is where a hair dryer will help you.

The dresser was painted in white paint first and I used Fusion paint. I then painted the stencil flowers with gold metallic paint from Modern Masters. They have the best paints! I also painted the hardware with one of their golds. You want to use a water based primer underneath the metallic paints, not an oil based product and not chalk paint.

You can seal over it all with wax or whatever kind of water sealer you normally use. Easy!
