Farm table we built

September 8, 2015

Here is our first table build.  My husband built the table and I stained and painted it.  I wanted a table that was not so wide.  This is the perfect width and length.  It is skinnier than most tables.  We built it using just standard timber from Home Depot.  You can see below what the wood looked like when we started. First thing was to put on the wood conditioner.  Then I stained it using Minwax stain in special walnut.  I think I put on 4 coats of stain. I applied the minwax stain with a brush.  I then sealed it with Minwax wipe on poly.  There are 4 coats of the poly.  I did wipe it on with an old t-shirt rag. I brushed one slab of wood at a time, then rubbed that slab with a rag.  The legs I painted in Annie Sloan chalk paint in aubusson blue.  I applied dark wax in layers.  I love what you can do with wax!
